Re: When The Doors Close
Wise or Pound?
Appalachia or Big Stone Gap
Where does the School go?
You take the school setting out of Appalachia or Pound and they will cease to exist. Now, do you take that and say so be it, or do you put the school in each place and help that town out as your taking away one of its few remaining life lines..
WHERE DOES IT GO??

Re: When The Doors Close
I don't know. I have to say as an older member of this former and this county.
I cannot see paying out 10 or 15 million to renovate 6 schools. Unless they can guarantee it past 30 yrs.
But i do love seeing you have taken an interest in this. One thing i have always liked is to challenge people, to voice their thoughts, and their opinions. Right or wrong it still says your looking and listening. Can't beat that today.
And many think Spuds is off the wall. Well if you read between what he says. Very smart dude. Known him for many years. Makes you think a bit and always leaves you with that hmm. Then you actually think about it, and yeah he ain't to far off. Even though you may not like to admit it.
The busing of students made me smile, i thought my friend has a point, we've bussed kids to the technical school for how long, and yet we can't bus them to MECC or UVA-Wise. Got to admit he is a sly one.
And he is one to first admit he can be hard headed. Heck he's a Dawg. Even if he considers himself and adopted Dawg.
This issue is a little deeper and goes a little further than just school spirit and pride.
If any have read this i think they see this. How it will turn out. Who knows. But it has been a ride many will never forget.

amazing all these people with all these opinions and facts for both sides cant say where it should be built.

Re: When The Doors Close
I wish they would build one school on the Southfork of Pound, and helicopter everybody in. It's not gonna happen in our lifetime.

Re: When The Doors Close
So says you (and most folks on here just ignore you nowadays anyway). You'll be all right though in time, drop this lil grudge you got, and if you don't the sun will still rise in the morning Lord willing.

Re: When The Doors Close
no one wants to stand behind either claim and alienate the other and deal with the well, why does it have to be built there....

Re: When The Doors Close

Re: When The Doors Close
Common sense would say build it in the most centralized location in the county (provided there were only one school built-IMO Wise County cannot afford more than one). Take into consideration traveling distance and do the best you can. Not everybody is going to like it however you slice it.

[ QUOTE ]
just build a new school in Pound and have Kelly come over and it will boost the economy for Pound while Wise will still have UVA Wise and the shopping areas etc.

If it ever does have to happen, which I hope and pray not, I think it should be in pound for this same reason.
